Khalra news: In a major action against alleged corruption and drug-related activities within the police force, the Punjab Police have arrested a sub-inspector posted at Khalra Police Station after recovering 300 gram of heroin and suspected drug money from his possession.
The accused, identified as Sub-Inspector Sahib Singh, had been serving in the border area for a considerable period and had earlier worked as the Station House Officer (SHO) at Khalra Police Station.
According to police sources, the arrest was made during a planned operation carried out by the CIA Staff. The team, led by SP (Investigation) Riputapan Singh, intercepted the officer near Majjupur village, close to Jhabal, and took him into custody.
A criminal case has been registered against the officer and investigators have begun questioning him to uncover the source of the heroin, its intended destination and whether others were involved in the alleged drug network.
Sources also claimed that the accused officer had earlier been associated with heroin recovery cases and frequently highlighted such seizures publicly. Investigators are now examining whether his alleged involvement in the drug trade extended beyond the latest recovery.
Senior police officials said the investigation is being conducted from every angle and that anyone found involved in illegal activities, irrespective of rank or position, will face strict legal action.
