PTC News Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday announced the renaming of Adampur Airport as Sri Guru Ravidass Maharaj Ji Airport, Adampur, and virtually inaugurated the new terminal building at Halwara Airport in Ludhiana.


The Prime Minister arrived at Adampur Airport from Delhi around 3.45 pm, shortly after the Union Budget was presented in Parliament. The announcements were made at an event in Jalandhar, Punjab, held to commemorate the birth anniversary of Guru Ravidas. PM Modi said he was pleased with the airport’s new name, calling it a fitting tribute to the saint’s lasting legacy.


He also highlighted that Guru Ravidas Ji consistently emphasised the ideals of equality and equal opportunity, describing these values as highly relevant in the present day.


As part of the visit, the Prime Minister inaugurated the newly constructed terminal building at Halwara Airport in Ludhiana and extended his greetings to the people of Punjab, calling the developments significant milestones in strengthening the state’s infrastructure.


The Dera Sachkhand, located at Ballan in Jalandhar, is the largest dera of Ravidassia community in the state.


"Mein Punjab di iss dharti nu naman karda haan," said the Prime Minister as he greeted people on the occasion of Guru Ravidas Jayanti and the Magh Purnima.


"People of Varanasi gave me blessings and I got the opportunity to also serve the place as an MP from there," he said.


"We take inspiration from Guru Ravidas," he said. "With the blessings of Sant Ravidas, I am confident that we will achieve the target of Viksit Bharat," he added.
