PTC Web Desk: For the annual Shaheedi Samagam underway at Fatehgarh Sahib, the Railways has announced temporary halts for 14 mail and express trains at Sirhind railway station to ease travel for sangat attending the three-day religious congregation.

The decision comes amid expectations of a large turnout during the event, scheduled from December 25 to 27, with officials estimating that over 50 lakh pilgrims from across India and overseas will visit the historic gurdwara sahib.

Officials from Northern Railway said the selected trains, which normally pass through Sirhind without stopping, will now halt for two minutes on all three days of the samagam. The measure is aimed at improving passenger convenience and managing the surge in footfall. The announcement was made by Northern Railway chief PRO Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay.
