Amritsar police denies firing outside comedian Kapil Sharmas residence in Amritsar
Investigation has been launched into the matter and police are gathering information about the attackers, who fled the spot after firing.
PTC News Desk: The Amritsar Police on Tuesday firmly rejected reports suggesting firing outside comedian Kapil Sharm'a residence in Amritsar.
Commissionerate Police, Amritsar Gurpreet Singh Bhullar took to his social media and refuted the claims of firing incident outside Sharma's residence, calling them complete rumours.
"Some irresponsible persons are spreading rumours regarding an alleged firing incident outside the house of Kapil Sharma in Amritsar," ACP Gurpreet Bhullar said on his social media.
"An official video statement is being issued to clarify the facts and dispel misinformation. Citizens are requested not to pay heed to rumours and to rely only on verified information from official sources", the post further added.
However in view of the rumours of firing and as a precautionary measure, police have cordoned off the area and currently examining the CCTV footages cameras installed outside Sharma’s residence and nearby VIP houses to ascertain whether any such incident took place.
It is also learned that former cricketer and Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu's house is also situated in the same area.
