A Sikh jatha will depart for Pakistan on June 10 to participate in the annual martyrdom anniversary events of Guru Arjan Dev Ji at Gurdwara Dera Sahib Lahore; 600 passports submitted for visas
PTC Web Desk: A special Sikh jatha is set to depart for Pakistan on June 10 to participate in the annual martyrdom anniversary events of fifth Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji, at Gurdwara Dera Sahib in Lahore. At least 600 devotees have already submitting their passports for the visa process.
According to the proposed schedule, the jatha will visit several historic gurdwaras in Pakistan besides attending the Shaheedi Samagam at Lahore. The group is expected to return to India on June 19.
Notably, Sikh devotees had missed participating in the commemorative events in previous years due to disputes surrounding dates in the Nanakshahi calendar. This year, however, preparations for the pilgrimage are in full swing.
Despite the growing excitement, organisers and devotees are still awaiting an official notification from the government regarding clearance for the yatra. The organisers remain hopeful that the required approvals will be granted soon, enabling Sikh pilgrims to undertake the spiritual journey without any hurdles.
The annual martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji holds immense religious significance for Sikhs across the world, drawing devotees to historic shrines associated with Sikh heritage in Pakistan.
