Two-year-old killed after being run over by JCB in Mohali’s Nayagaon
Minor came under wheels of the earthmoving machine and one of its tyres reportedly passed over child’s head
PTC Web Desk: In a tragic incident reported from the Singha Devi area of Nayagaon in Mohali, a two-year-old child lost his life after allegedly being run over by a JCB machine on Thursday evening.
According to preliminary information, the minor came under the wheels of the earthmoving machine and one of its tyres reportedly passed over the child’s head. The impact proved fatal, and the toddler died on the spot.
The incident triggered shock and grief in the locality, with residents gathering at the scene soon after the accident. Family members of the child were inconsolable, and the mother was said to be in deep trauma following the heartbreaking loss.
After the mishap, the driver of the JCB machine allegedly fled the spot. The police were informed immediately, following which a team from the Nayagaon police station reached the location and initiated an investigation.
Police officials took custody of the body and sent it to the mortuary of Kharar Civil Hospital for post-mortem examination. Efforts are underway to trace the absconding driver, and further legal action will be taken based on the findings of the probe.
The police stated that a detailed investigation is in progress to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to the accident.
