In line with the Unlock 4 guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), the schools will open in Himachal Pradesh from September 21 for Class 9 to 12 students.
The Himachal Pradesh Cabinet gave its nod to open educational institutions outside the containment zone in the State from September 21, 2020.
The educational institutions in the state remained closed since March after a nationwide lockdown was announced by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi following the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.
The decision is followed by the standard operating procedure (SOP) of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Only 50 percent of teaching and non-teaching staff for students of Classes 9 to 12, can go to schools.

The interested students will have to provide the written consent of the parents or guardians to get guidance from teachers at school premises. It is mandatory, a spokesperson of the state government said.
The Cabinet meeting was called on Friday which was presided over by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur.
Currently, Himachal Pradesh is having 4,146 active cases, 6,946 recoveries while a total of 98 COVID patients have died due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
