The protest will end soon: Agriculture Minister Narendra Tomar

Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar on farmers protest: The farmers have been protesting at the Delhi borders since 26 November 2020 and have stated it from day one that they want nothing else but repelling of farm laws.

Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar on Monday termed the government's proposal to suspend new farm laws for 1-1.5 years as the "best offer" and hoped that the protesting farmers' unions will soon reconsider it and convey their decision.

Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said, "They (farmers) could have chosen any other day instead of January 26 but they have announced now. Conducting rally peacefully without any accident would be the concern for farmers as well as police administration."

Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar when asked when will the farmers' agitation get over, he said, "the protest will end soon."

Agriculture Minister Tomar also said, "Anyone can express dissent if they disagree. When we saw that some farmers, although their no. isn't very high, were protesting against (farm) laws, we thought that we must find a solution via dialogue, & we still hope that issue will be resolved."

However, the farmers are all set for the tractor parade on January 26, 2021, Republic Day after a meeting between the Delhi Police and farmers yesterday, Delhi Police has given a nod to tractor parade on Republic Day,

Farmers have been protesting at Delhi borders. Despite 11 rounds of meeting between the protesting farmers and the Centre, no conclusion has come out so far. No date has been fixed for the next meeting.

The farmers have been protesting against the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020, Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020, and Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020.
