Ankita Bhandari murder: Family refuses to perform last rites, demands post-mortem report first
Pauri (Uttarakhand), September 25: In a significant development in the Ankita Bhandari murder case, the deceased's family refused to perform the last rites and demanded the handing over of the post-mortem report.
On the other hand, the administration tried to convince Ankita's family. "We won't conduct her last rites until her post-mortem report is given. We saw in her provisional report that she was beaten up and thrown in a river. But we're awaiting the final report," Ajay Singh Bhandari, brother of Ankita, said.
Meanwhile, the SIT has informed that the deceased's Whatsapp chats were also being probed.
According to sources, a WhatsApp chat has come to the fore in the investigation. Police sources said that in this chat Ankita is telling her friend that the owner of the resort is pressuring her to provide 'extra service' to the guests.
DIG PR Devi, the SIT in charge of the Ankita Bhandari murder case, said that Ankita's WhatsApp chats, which have surfaced, are also being investigated.

According to a viral chat, the accused were asking Ankita to provide 'extra service' to guests for Rs 10,000.
A staffer at the resort also claimed that on September 17, Ankita Bhandari called him crying and asked him to take her bags out of the resort. He also reported seeing Ankita with three other persons at 3 p.m., however, only the others returned except Ankita.
He also stated that the owner's brother Ankit Arya arrived at 8 a.m. on September 18 and discussed preparing dinner for four people and saying that he would eat in Ankita's room. The employee objected by saying that the service boy could make the dinner; however, the resort's helper said that Ankit wanted to deceive the staff as Ankita had not returned.
