Amritsar horror: Elderly man hacked to death; finger chopped off, jewellery and money looted
PTC News Desk: In a shocking incident, an elderly man brutally attacked and hacked to death by robbers in village Bhandiar in Amritsar rural district.
According to the family members, the incident unfolded when the deceased victim, Jagir Singh was in deep sleep and taking advantage of the situation, the robbers entered the home. When Jagir Singh resisted the robbery attempt, he was brutally attacked and robbers chopped off his finger.
Despite losing his finger, he continued to fight and refused to hand over the cash. However the assailants did not stop and continues to assault him with sharp weapons. They slashed his arm in three places, broke the bone of his nose, inflicted severe head injuries, and finally took ₹40,000 from his pocket before fleeing.
Unable to survive the grievous injuries, Jagir Singh succumbed at a private hospital in Amritsar. His merciless killing has left his family devastated and plunged the entire village into fear.
Family members and villagers of Bhandiar have appealed to senior Punjab Police officials to swiftly arrest the culprits behind Jagir Singh’s tragic death and ensure they are put behind bars to prevent such incidents in the future.
Inspector Amandeep Singh, SHO of Gharyinda police station, said in a statement that CCTV footage is being collected. A case has been registered under relevant sections, and the accused responsible for Jagir Singh’s killing will be nabbed soon.
