The incident took place during the zero parade on February 21 inside the BSF’s 15thBattalion headquarters in Nadia, West Bengal.

Constable Sanjeev Kumar who is convicted of the 'crime' used the word ‘Modi programme’ in a report. Following which, Commandant Anup Lal Bhagat initiated disciplinary action against him and Kumar was found “guilty” under Section 40 of the BSF Act.

Prejudicial to good order and discipline of the force, the section says.

However the senior officers says that the punishment was a “bit harsh” and “uncalled for”.
