Today's stock market: Nifty surpasses 23,000 mark for the first time

Nifty reached a high of 23004 on Friday morning, breaking beyond the 23,000 barrier for the first time. The BSE Sensex was up 90.39 points, or 0.12%, at 75,508 points.

PTC News Desk: On Friday, 3,129 equities were traded actively, of which 1,743 saw advances, 1,263 saw declines, and 123 saw no change. At 9.30 am on the BSE, 115 stocks reached a 52-week high and 11 stocks reached a 52-week low.

According to Choice Broking's Research Analyst Deven Mehata, the Nifty can find support at 22,900, followed by 22,850 and 22,800. On the plus side, 23,025 might act as an instant barrier, then 23,100, and 23,200.


The Bank Nifty's charts suggest that 48,500, 48,300, and 48,200 could be points of support. The analyst stated that if the index rises, 49,000 will be the first significant resistance, followed by 49,200 and 49,300.

On May 23, foreign institutional investors made a shift to buying, purchasing Rs 4,670.95 crore worth of Indian stocks, while local institutional investors purchased Rs 146.51 crore worth of stocks.

Yesterday, the INDIA VIX fell 0.41 percent. At 21.3800, it is trading at the moment.

At 9.30 am, the NSE's top gainers include Divi's Lab (1.14%), Bajaj Finance (1.11%), Hindalco (1.39%), L&T (0.99%), and SBI (0.89%). The biggest losers include Apollo Hospitals (-0.71%), M&M (-0.86%), Hero MotoCorp (-0.71%), Coal India (-1.39%), and Shriram Finance (-1.02%).

The BSE Midcap index increased by 0.038 percent, while the BSE Smallcap index increased by 0.37 per cent.
