Delhi govt. announces institutional quarantine for UK returnees
Mutant Coronavirus Strain: As India-UK flights resumed partially, an Air India flight from the UK with 256 passengers on board landed in the national capital on Friday. Delhi government led by Arvind Kejriwal has announced a slew of measures in the wake of Covid strain in India. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, while sharing the order issued by the Delhi Disaster Management Authority, said: "To protect Delhiites from exposure to the virus from the UK, the Delhi government takes important decisions." Negative ones will be taken to a quarantine facility for 7 days followed by 7 days of home quarantine," he added. Meanwhile, strict surveillance will be kept on persons who will be kept in home quarantine after completion of mandatory institutional quarantine. According to the Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, only 30 flights per week – 15 each by Indian and UK carriers – will be allowed to operate till January 23. Ahead of the partial resumption of India-UK flights, the Delhi airport has advised passengers to maintain a gap of over 10 hours between their arrival from the UK and the connecting flight to their cities. -PTC News
