'Animal' box office collection: Ranbir Kapoor's movie rakes in massive Rs 63 cr on Day 1; marks career's biggest opener

Mumbai, December 2: Ranbir Kapoor-starrer 'Animal,' directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, sprinted off the blocks with a remarkable opening at the box office. The film hit theaters on December 1, clashing with Meghna Gulzar's 'Sam Bahadur,' yet managed to make a significant impact in box office earnings, grossing Rs 63.80 crore across multiple languages on Day 1.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh revealed, "'ANIMAL' IS SENSATIONAL... Despite no holiday, franchise, or superstar cameos, and an 'Adults' certificate with a lengthy 3-hour runtime, #Animal delivered a staggering Day 1 collection of Rs 54.75 crore for its Hindi version alone. This marks the biggest opening for #RanbirKapoor and a record-breaking start for an 'Adults' certified film. The film also earned Rs 9.05 crore in South Indian languages, totaling Rs 63.80 crore Nett BOC across all languages."

'Animal' not only gave Ranbir Kapoor his career's grandest opening, but also exhibited impressive box office prowess even amidst the clash with 'Sam Bahadur.'

Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, 'Animal' features a stellar cast, including Anil Kapoor, Rashmika Mandana, Shakti Kapoor and Triptii Dimri. The narrative revolves around the intricate dynamics of a father-son relationship, essayed by Anil Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor.

Ranbir Kapoor's character embodies protectiveness and obsession towards his father, displaying an impulsive and instinctive nature, which resonates with the film's title, 'Animal.'

The film, spanning 3 hours and 21 minutes, released in five languages — Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam. Ranbir Kapoor, during promotional events, elaborated on the film's title, stating that it aligns with the instinctive behaviour displayed by his character to safeguard his family.
