Punjab Assembly elections 2022: As many as 22 farmer unions in Punjab, that were part of Samyukta Kisan Morcha against Centre's three farm laws, on Saturday formed a political front named Samyukta Samaj Morcha. Balbir Singh Rajewal will lead the front.
While addressing the media persons, Balbir Singh Rajewal said that "they would contest all 117 seats in upcoming Punjab assembly elections 2022."

"A new 'Samyukta Samaj Morcha' is formed for contesting Punjab Assembly elections. 22 unions have taken this decision. We need to change the system and want to appeal to people to support this morcha," farmer leader Balbir Singh Rajewal said.

Denying the rumours of forging an alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Rajewal said that "there is no plan to forge an alliance with AAP as of now."
Earlier in the day, Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) had stated that they are not contesting the Punjab Assembly elections.
It also stated that no person or organisation should use the name of SKM or 32 organizations for elections.
Punjab Assembly elections are slated to be held in early 2022.
