Farmers head towards Karnal Mini-Secretariat after talks with administration fail

After talks between a 11-member committee of farmers and administrative officials failed in Karnal on Tuesday afternoon, farmers in large numbers started moving towards the Mini-Secretariat in the district. As per reports reaching here, the situation is tensed at the venue of Kisan Mahapanchayat. The 11-member committee comprised Gurnam Singh Charuni, Rakesh Tikait, Yogendra Yadav, Balbir Rajewal, Ajay Rana, Sukhwinder Singh, Suresh Koth, Rampal Chahal, Dr Darshan Pal, Vikas Sikhar, and Inderjit. The 11-member delegation led the talks even as hundreds of other protesters gathered at the Anaj Mandi as they heeded a call for protest against the August 28 police action. The farmers are demanding a compensation of Rs 25 lakh for the family of the farmer who died during the lathicharge incident in Karnal on August 28, job to one of his family members; Rs 2 lakh for the injured and action against the Karnal SDM, who had "ordered brutal action on the protesting farmers". -PTC News
