FIH Pro League: GB gets consolation with bonus point
After being held to 1-1 draw by the visiting US women’s hockey team, Great Britain drew some consolation with a bonus point from the penalty shootout 2-1 win in the FIH Pro League for women in London on Saturday. Great Britain had beaten the US 3-1 in the away game played in the US.
But the home match turned out to be disappointing affair as even after taking lead through Gisella Ashley, the hosts could not hold on to the lead and conceded the equaliser in the second half to Lauren Moyer to split points with the visitors.
Since FIH Pro League provides for shootout to break the tie, home team proved lucky and won the tie breaker 2-1 to get a bonus point. Great Britain now stands sixth in the overall standing while the position of the US remains unchanged at the bottom of the table.Lily Owsley of the home team was adjudged the player of the match.
