Former Union Minister CK Jaffer Sharief passes away at 85 Former Union Railway Minister CK Jaffer Sharief passed away in a private hospital in Bengaluru on Sunday morning. Jaffer Sharief was admitted to a private hospital, after he collapsed while getting into his car for Friday namaz. Karnataka Congress President Dinesh Gundu Rao expressed his condolences following the demise of the senior Congress leader.

Sharief was elected to the Lok Sabha seven times. He had started his political career under Lingayat strongman S Nijalingappa but had sided with Indira Gandhi following the split in Congress.
