IPL 2020 to begin on this date in the UAE with final to take place on November 8

The wait is over! Every cricket fan in India was waiting for the decision on the fate of IPL 2020 tournament. Meanwhile, the Indian Premier League 2020 is all set to begin from September 19 with the final taking place on November 8, the IPL chairman Brijesh Patel said. "It will be a full-fledged tournament," he said.

Earlier, it was reported that the BCCI had decided to shift the tournament to the UAE and had sought clearance for the same from the Indian government.


Meanwhile, there are reports that the BCCI has received the government clearance on Friday morning to conduct the tournament in the UAE. The details regarding the schedule and the teams departing for the UAE will be discussed in the IPL Governing Council meeting which will take place next week.

IPL 2020, which was scheduled to commence in March, was postponed due to the outbreak caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The BCCI tried several alternatives in an order to host the rich-cash league tournament later in the year in India but it wasn't possible due to the several travel restrictions and the rising coronavirus cases in India itself. The total number of positive cases has increased to 12,87,945 including 4,40,135 active cases, 8,17,209 cured and discharged while 30,601 died due to the pandemic.
