IPS Officer's Brother Among 3 Terrorists Killed In Kashmir Encounter
The brother of an IPS officer was among three terrorists killed in an encounter in Shopian district, Jammu & Kashmir on Tuesday. Security forces destroyed terrorists’ hide-out, which was an underground bunker near an orchid area.

The brother of an IPS officer was identified as Shamsul Haq. According to media reports, he was pursuing his degree in Unani medicine. He discontinued his studies and joined the Hizbul Mujahideen terror group. Senior Jammu and Kashmir police officer SP Vaid said, “The IPS officer family tried to bring Shamsul Haq back into the normal life. However, he met a tragic end today.”

On Tuesday, the security forces received an input that some militants were hiding in the Heff area of Shopian district. Acting on the information received, the security forces launched a search operation in the area. The militants started firing at the security forces.
The security forces retaliated and the search operation turned into a gun battle.
