Jassi murder: 2 extradited from Canada for Punjab honour killing Jassi may finally get justice. Ninteen years after her murder by contract killers, her mother, Malkit Kaur Sidhu, and uncle Surjit Singh Badesha, were handed over to Sangrur police after extradition from Canada.They had been in custody of Royal Mounted Canadian Police since 2012. And after a long legal battle, they were finally brought to to India by RCMP yesterday and handed over to Sangrur police at Indira Gandhi International Airport. The Sangrur police led by SP Gurmeet Singh completed all the legal formalities. He told media that, “Both the accused will be produced in the Sangrur court on Thursday evening.” Earlier, in the year 2017, Punjab Police tried to extradite the two. But the accused succeeded in stalling their extradition. What exactly happened? Jassi secretly tied a knot with Sukhwinder Singh Mithu in March 1999. In June, contract killers hired by Malkit Kaur Sidhu and Surjit Singh Badesha attacked the couple, killing Jassi while Sukhwinder Singh Mithu survived.  Malkit Kaur Sidhu is the mother of Jassi and Surjit Singh Badesha is her maternal uncle. It has been 19 years. Now, I want to confront Jassi’s mother and ask her if our love was such a big crime.
