Karnal Mini-Secretariat gherao: Amid the deadlock between the Karnal administration and protesting farmers over the August 28 lathicharge incident, Congress general secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala has tweeted a video, wherein Deputy Commissioner, Karnal, Nishant Yadav can be heard as saying "any such action is initiated after orders from the government". Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala tweeted that," The truth of the Karnal lathicharge has come to light. The Chief Minister gave the order to the then SDM to smash the heads of farmers, that is why no action is being taken against him". Notably, farmer unions have announced to continue their protest outside the Karnal Mini-Secretariat until the district administration heeded their call for action against former Karnal SDM Ayush Sinha for ordering lathicharge on farmers. With Randeep Singh Surjewala's rise, Haryana Congress dynamics set to changeBharatiya Kisan Union leader Rakesh Tikait was among those who led protesters to the Mini-Secretariat after talks with the administration broke down. Another round of talks on September 8 also failed.
