Metropolitan court slapped life imprisonment to seven in 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots case
A Muzaffarnagar metropolitan court on Friday sentenced seven convicts to undergo life imprisonment in the 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots case. The convicts were identified as Muzammil, Mujassim, Furkan, Nadeem, Janangir, Afzal and Ikbal. The court had earlier convicted them in the killing of two cousins in Kawal town leading to riots in the area.

The quantum of punishment was pronounced by Additional District and Sessions Judge Himanshu Bhatnagar.

On August 27, 2013, two cousins Gaurav and Sachin, were killed in two separate incidents that lead to riots in widespread Muzaffarnagar riots. More than 62 people were killed and more than 51,000 people were displaced during the riots.
