Hanuman Jayanti 2024: Delhi police traffic advisory; steer clear of these routes

Hanuman Jayanti 2024:  As Hanuman Jayanti approaches on Tuesday, April 23, the Delhi Police has issued a comprehensive traffic advisory to manage the influx of devotees and the festivities accompanying the occasion. With numerous religious organisations planning celebrations and processions throughout Delhi, including the grand festivities by the Hanuman Mandir Committee near Connaught Place's Baba Kharak Singh Marg, traffic management becomes paramount.

Anticipating a significant gathering of devotees, estimated to be around 50,000 to 60,000, and the procession, which will involve 1,000-1,500 participants along with seven raths (chariots), the Delhi Traffic Police has outlined specific restrictions and diversions. The advisory emphasises that vehicles parked along designated routes, particularly Baba Kharak Singh Marg and Outer CC, Connaught Place, will be promptly towed away and subjected to legal prosecution.

To ensure smooth traffic flow in the area, the advisory underscores the prohibition of vehicles from stopping or parking along these crucial routes. Commuters are advised to steer clear of certain routes between 11 am and 9 pm, including Roundabout GPO to Outer CC, Baba Karak Singh Marg, Outer CC Connaught Place, Panchkuiyan Road, Mandir Marg, Kali Badi Marg, Ashok Road, and Janpath.

Hanuman Jayanti, celebrated on the full moon day of Shukla Paksha during the month of Chaitra, holds immense significance for devotees across the country.

In light of the traffic restrictions, commuters are encouraged to utilise public transportation alternatives and plan their routes accordingly, particularly those traveling towards ISBT, railway stations, or airports. Additionally, traffic will be redirected from specific points, including Outer CC Baba Kharak Singh Marg, roundabout GPO, Patel Chowk, and Windsor Place, to streamline traffic management.

In related celebrations, President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to visit Parmarth Niketan in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand. Upon arrival, the President will receive a traditional welcome from Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji, President of Parmarth Niketan, and Pujya Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswatiji, International Director of Parmarth Niketan.
