You’re fired! : A Meta employee who relocated from India to Canada for a job with the tech giant ‘Meta’ was laid off just two days after joining.

As per the report, he is one of the over 11,000 Meta employees who have been impacted by mass layoffs that CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced earlier this week.

According to his LinkedIn post, IIT-Kharagpur graduate Himanshu V said he has “no idea” what is next in store for him.

“I relocated to Canada to join #Meta and 2 days after joining, my journey came to an end as I am impacted by the massive layoff,” he wrote. “What's next for me? Honestly, I have no idea! I'm looking forward to whatever comes next,” he said.

Himanshu's post saw an outpouring of disbelief and sympathy, with many consoling him. Many also provided him leads on job opportunities and shared links of companies that are hiring software engineers.

Meanwhile, on November 10, Meta nnounced to lay off approximately 11,000 employees as part of a mass layoff to cut expenses and transform its business model.

Meta, like the rest of the tech industry, has announced layoffs.

"We are also taking a number of additional steps to become a leaner and more efficient company by cutting discretionary spending and extending our hiring freeze through Q1," said Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

The layoffs, according to Zuckerberg, are some of the most difficult changes the company has made in its history, and everyone in the company will soon receive an email "letting you know what this layoff means for you."

The planned layoffs would be the first significant reductions in headcount in the company's 18-year history.
