Kerala woman with cerebral palsy clears UPSC exams, secures 922 rank

PTC News Desk: A young woman from Kozhikode, Kerala, overcame the challenges of cerebral palsy to achieve an incredible feat. 23-year-old Sarika A K cleared the civil services exam with a commendable rank of 922 on her second attempt.

Sarika expressed her initial shock at the result and her deep joy at reaching this milestone. She credited her success to the unwavering support of her family, friends, and teachers, highlighting the critical role her parents played in her journey.


Sarika's determination and perseverance propelled her to success after she decided to enter the civil service after graduation. Sarika drew inspiration from figures such as Jessica Cox, a licenced pilot without arms, to emphasise the importance of relentlessly pursuing one's dreams.

Sarika stated that her interview was primarily about her graduation subject and hometown of Kozhikode. Dr. Jobin S. Kottaram, the founder, author, and motivational speaker of Absolute IAS Academy, launched 'Project Chithrashalabham,' a training programme to provide free civil service coaching to students with disabilities.

Sarika's accomplishment is not only personal but also inspirational, demonstrating the triumph of the human spirit over physical constraints. Her story serves as a beacon of hope for others facing similar challenges, demonstrating that with determination and support, any goal can be achieved.
