Lok Sabha Polls 2024: India is gearing up for its Lok Sabha elections 2024, with the first phase set to commence on April 19. Voters will cast ballots for 543 seats in the Lok Sabha, India's lower House of Parliament. 

With 102 constituencies spread across 21 states and Union Territories (UTs), the first phase of voting for the 18th Lok Sabha elections is all set to commence on April 19, 2024. 


As per the schedule announced by the Election Commission of India (ECI), the second phase is scheduled to be held on April 26, third phase on May 7, fourth phase on May 13, fifth phase on May 20, sixth phase on May 25 and the last phase on June 1. The counting of votes will be held on June 4.

Before casting their votes, it's crucial for every voter to be aware of certain important details. Voters must carry their Voter ID card along with another form of identification to their designated polling booth for verification by the poll officers.

List of documents required to vote 

Voter ID Card: Voter ID Card is the most essential used document for voting in India is the Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC) issued by the Election Commission of India.

To establish their identity at the polling booth, a voter must carry one of these documents along with their Voter ID card: 

  • Aadhaar Card
  • Driving License
  • PAN Card
  • Passport
  • MGNREGA Job Card
  • Passbooks with photograph issued by Bank/Post Office
  • Smart Card issued by RGI under NPR
  • Pension document with photograph
  • Service Identity Cards with photograph issued to employees by Central/State Govt./PSUs/Public Limited Companies
  • Health Insurance Smart Card issued under the scheme of the Ministry of Labour
  • Official identity cards issued to MPs/MLAs/MLCs and 
  • Official identity cards issued to MPs/MLAs/MLCs andUnique Disability ID (UDID) Card, issued by M/o Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India.

It's always a best and safe to check with your local Election Commission office or visit their website for specific details regarding the documents required for voting in your area. Additionally, if you're a first-time voter, you may need to provide additional documentation.
