'Out of the world love': Bengal man gifts wife piece of land on Moon after Chandrayaan-3 success
Man gifts 'chaand ka tukda' to wife: Fulfilling his promise to bring the Moon to his wife, a man from West Bengal gifted his wife a plot of land on the Moon for her birthday.
According to a report by India Today, Sanjay Mahato, from Jhargram district in West Bengal, bought one acre of land for Rs10,000. He said had promised to bring the Moon to his wife before marrying her.
Mahato stated that he was inspired to buy a gift like this following India's successful Chandrayaan-3 mission. It gave him hope that his desire to fulfil his promise to his wife could come true.
“Me and my wife courted for a long time and then got married last April. I had promised to bring the Moon to her. I couldn’t live up to that promise. But now, on her first birthday after our wedding, I thought why not gift her a plot on the Moon,” Mahato said.
He bought the land through Luna Society International with the help of a friend. It took roughly a year to complete the whole process.
"I brought one acre of Moon land for her," Mahato stated, holding a registration paper with the words 'Registered claim and deed for lunar property' printed on it.
When questioned if he could have bought something else with the money, Mahato replied, “Yes, I could have. But the Moon holds a special place in both our hearts. So, on her first birthday as a married couple, I couldn’t think of anything better.”
Despite the fact that the couple couldn't physically visit their lunar property, Mahato said he and his wife Anumika often sit in their garden, looking up at the Moon, and feeling the connection to the celestial body that has become an integral part of their love story.
