PFI's Phulwari Sharif case: NIA raids 20 places in 6 states, seizes substantial cache of crucial evidence
PTC News Desk: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) carried out thorough search operations at twenty separate locations in six states on Wednesday in connection with a case relating to Bihar's Phulwari Sharif terror conspiracy case in a sweeping crackdown against the banned group Popular Front of India (PFI).
The agency has been investigating the Phulwari Sharif terror case in Bihar for the past one year.
These searches were conducted at locations throughout Delhi, including Fazalpur, Shaheen Bagh, Okhla, and Chandni Chowk; Bhopal district in Madhya Pradesh; Thane and Mumbai in Maharashtra; Tonk and Gangapur City districts in Rajasthan; and Lucknow, Siddharth Nagar, Sant Ravidas Nagar, Kanpur, and Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh. In addition, searches were carried out in Madurai, Tamil Nadu.
These operations were part of a larger probe into cases involving the PFI and their involvement in unlawful and anti-national activities.
During the searches, the NIA found a substantial cache of critical evidence in the ongoing case, noting, "This evidence includes various digital devices such as laptops, mobile phones, SIM cards, memory cards, pen drives, and hard discs."
"Furthermore, incriminating documents have been recovered during the operations."
Furthermore, the agency stated that a substantial amount of Indian currency with a face value of Rs 8.5 lakhs has been confiscated in connection with the case.
On July 12, last year, the case was reregistered at the Phulwari Sharif Police Station in Bihar's Patna district. The NIA re-registered this case on July 22, last year, following its investigation.
