Sensex, Nifty hit all-time highs: 72,360 and 21,745 marks achieved
Mumbai, December 28: In a surge buoyed by positive sentiments surrounding India's macroeconomic landscape, solid global market trends, and fresh foreign investments, both the Sensex and Nifty indices soared to historic heights during early trade on Thursday in Mumbai.
Continuing its upward trajectory for the fifth consecutive day, the 30-share BSE Sensex surged by 322.08 points, attaining an unprecedented peak at 72,360.51. Simultaneously, the Nifty also soared, marking an all-time high of 21,745.60 after climbing by 90.85 points.
Notable gainers among the Sensex constituents included JSW Steel, NTPC, Power Grid, Bajaj Finserv, HDFC Bank, ITC, Nestle, and Tata Steel. Conversely, UltraTech Cement, IndusInd Bank, Asian Paints, and Axis Bank faced declines. In Asian markets, Seoul, Shanghai, and Hong Kong exhibited gains, contrasting Tokyo's downtrend.
The optimistic trend reverberated from the US markets, which closed on a positive note on Wednesday.
