Toolkit case: HC directs Centre to file fresh status report on probe against Disha Ravi

New Delhi, February 27: Delhi High Court on Monday ordered the Centre to file a new status report in the Toolkit case against activist Disha Ravi. The case has been rescheduled for a hearing on September 4. The matter has been listed on September 4.

The activist was given bail by the Patiala House Court on February 23, 2021. Justice Prathiba M Singh also expressed her displeasure with the Delhi Police counsel who appeared in the case without being instructed

" This cannot go like this. It is an important matter, you can not come without proper instructions," justice Singh stated.

The case will be heard in court on September 4.

Disha Ravi's counsel, senior advocate Akhil Sibal, argued that Disha's personal data was collected and leaked to the media.

He also claimed that even two years after the case was filed, the Delhi police had not filed the charge sheet.

The questions asked during the interrogation, as well as their responses, were also leaked to the media. This is available on the internet and should be removed.

Disha Ravi has filed a petition alleging that Delhi police assaulted her viscerally. Several media outlets also attacked her based on leaked information.

According to the petition, such behaviour violates her presumption of innocence and is detrimental to her. She claimed that such behaviour violates her right to a free and fair trial. It also has an impact on the efficient administration of justice.
