Viral: Relationship goes sour as couple's tomato dispute leads to 'separation'
PTC Web Desk: The skyrocketing prices of tomato have led to the separation of a couple. As per a viral news coming in from Madhya Pradesh, a woman reportedly left her husband's home along with daughter after an argument broke out between the two over the use of tomatoes in food.
As per information, the man, identified as Sanjeev Burman, reportedly added two tomatoes to a dish without consulting his wife Aarti, since he objected to it as the price of tomato is all-time high.Her husband also reportedly approached the police to locate Aarti.
Notably, Sanjeev Burman runs a tiffin service. Sanjeev said the argument broke out as he put two tomatoes in a dish.
Rising Tomato Prices
The scarcity of tomatoes in India this season has been linked to the unpredictable weather conditions that have plagued the country. Uncharacteristically heavy rainfall in recent months has wreaked havoc on tomato crops, leading to severe damage and the outbreak of a lethal fungal disease.
On the other hand, amid a sharp spurt in tomato prices across the country, the Central Government has now directed its agencies – NAFED and NCCF -- to immediately procure the staple vegetable from mandis in key growing states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Maharashtra.
Tomato is produced almost in all the states in India, though in varying quantities. Maximum production is in southern and western regions of India, contributing 56-58 of total production.
