Justice delivered! Nirbhaya convicts hanged at Tihar jail

Nirbhaya Rape Case: After late night drama in Delhi Court and Supreme Court, all the four death row convicts have been hanged at Tihar jail, on Friday. Delhi High Court dismisses the last minute plea by convicts seeking stay on execution. Delhi High Court said no foundation has been given in the petition. It has been filed without any index, list of dates, memo of parties, annexures or any affidavits. Afterwards, a plea was filed in the Supreme Court. The top court started hearing at 2:30 am in the petition of death row convict Pawan Gupta against rejection of his mercy plea by the President and seeking stay on execution.

High voltage drama in Delhi Court

During the hearing, the court said that there was no annexure, no affidavits, no memo of parties. There was nothing in this matter. "Do you (AP Singh) have permission to file this plea?" the Court asked. Convicts lawyer AP Singh replied, "No photo copy machine was working due to coronavirus". Meanwhile, AP Singh said that one petition was also pending before NHRC. "How can the hanging happen when all these petitions are pending?" he asked. Nirbhaya case: accused Mukesh hanging Court Meanwhile, the court said that "You (Advocate AP Singh) have done three courts today. You can't say that things are not accessible. We are here at 10 pm listening to you". Therefore, Delhi High Court told advocate AP Singh to talk only on legal points. Advocate Shams Khwaja, appearing for convicts, said that "The President of India at an event made public his sentiments that death row convicts in sexual assault cases do not deserve mercy. He was prejudiced against us even before the first mercy plea." However, the court found no legal point and hence dismissed the plea. Supreme Court

Intense Drama in Supreme Court

It was in Karnataka, when the Supreme Court did hearing in the midnight. It happened again. Supreme Court started hearing in the petition of death row convict Pawan Gupta against rejection of his mercy plea by the President and seeking stay on execution. AP Singh appearing for convict Pawan presented school certificate, school register, and attendance register of Pawan before the court and claimed that he was juvenile at the time of crime. To this, the Justice Bhushan said that those documents were already filed by him before courts. Meanwhile, Justice Bhushan asked what are the grounds on which AP Singh (advocate of convicts) is challenging the rejection of mercy petition?" Further Justice Bhushan said that AP Singh was raising grounds which have already been argued." Nirbhaya's mother reaction

Asha Devi, mother of Nirbhaya, said that "I am feeling satisfied because finally our daughter got justice. Whole country was ashamed of this crime, today the nation got justice." "Finally they have been hanged, it was a long struggle. Today we got justice, this day is dedicated to the daughters of the country.
