Chandigarh, March 23: Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, while speaking in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, said air travellers would now have seamless check-in facility at selected airports in India. He said Aadhaar Card-embedded biometrics of the passenger would be synced, which would allows a passenger to scan the bar-code on the ticket and gain check-in. The selected seven airports are — Pune, Kolkata, Vijaywada, Varanasi, Delhi, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. Jyotiraditya Scindia was replying to a debate on Demand of Grants of the Budget for the fiscal starting April 1. Currently, long queues were observed at check-in airports. But with seamless Aadhaar card-synced check-in at seven Indian airports, things would become easier now. On the expansion of new airports, Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said the one at Halwara, located west of Ludhiana, would be ready by March 2023. This was a joint venture between the Punjab Government and the Airports Authority of India. A new terminal building at Srinagar would be built at a cost of Rs 1,000 crore while capacity expansion was being done at the Leh airport that would be completed by August 2023.
