Parminder Dhindsa resigns: Sukhbir Singh Badal accepts his resignation, Dhillon to be SAD's Legislature Party leader
Parminder Dhindsa resignation: Parminder Singh Dhindsa has resigned as Shiromani Akali Dal’s Legislative Party leader on Friday. Meanwhile, SAD President Sukhbir Singh Badal has accepted the resignation of Parminder Dhindsa from the leadership of party in the Vidhan Sabha.
Dhindsa was the Minister for Finance and Planning (2012-2017) and Public Works Minister (2007-2012) in the previous Punjab Government. He is the son of Rajya Sabha member Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa. Parminder Singh Dhindsa was first elected as MLA of Sunam in September 2000 defeating Congress' Parmeshwari Devi. He was re-elected as an MLA of Sunam in 2002, 2007 and 2012 and in 2017 from Lehra.
Also, Sukhbir Singh Badal has announced that the former cabinet minister Sharanjit Singh Dhillon will be the new leader of the party in the Vidhan Sabha. Disclosing this here, party Spokesman Dr Daljit Singh Cheema said while accepting Parminder Dhindsa’s resignation today the SAD President decided to give the responsibility of leading the party’s legislature wing to S Sharanjit Singh Dhillon after taking the view of party legislators.

“All party legislators unanimously suggested that Mr Dhillon be bestowed with this responsibility keeping in view his long selfless service to the party as well as his experience as a parliamentarian and Cabinet minister. There was also an overwhelming feeling among legislators that no individual was bigger than the party and that everyone must work towards strengthening the party and take it to even greater heights. Legislators vowed to work with even greater zeal under Mr Sharanjit Dhillon’s leadership”.
Meanwhile SAD legislature wing deputy leader Pawan Kumar Tinu while welcoming the overwhelming support to Mr Dhillon from the entire legislature wing said the legislators were united as one. He said all the legislators congratulated the new legislature party leader who had an exemplary record of public service and had held several posts in the party, including that of President of its Youth Wing. He said Mr Sharanjt Dhillon on his part had thanked the party legislators for the support extended to him and assured them that he would try to fulfill the responsibility entrusted to him to the best of his abilities -PTC News
