Police arrests 33 bookies for betting during IND vs END 2nd ODI match in Pune
IND vs ENG 2nd ODI Betting Racket: The Pimpri Chinchwad police has arrested 33 bookies for their involvement in betting during the second ODI between India and England at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on Friday. According to the information, the police received a tip-off that some miscreants, allegedly involved in a betting racket, were having binoculars while watching the IND vs ENG 2nd ODI live in Pune. The accused were, reportedly, hiding at a height at three different locations near MCA stadium to watch the match live with binocular and high-resolution cameras. Meanwhile, the police commissioner said that the police has arrested 33 accused. These include 5 from Madhya Pradesh, 13 from Haryana, 11 from Maharashtra, 2 from Rajasthan, 1 from Goa, and one from Uttar Pradesh. Also Read | Ashwin, Rahane, Smith or Pant? The police has recovered several materials and cash worth Rs 45 lakhs besides 74 mobile phones, 3 laptops, 1 Tablet, 3 high-resolution cameras, binocular, and cash along with some foreign currency, the news agency ANI reported. It has also been reported that one of the accused had also attacked a team of police when they raided. Police thwarted the attack while all of them were arrested. In the second ODI between India and England, the visitors dominated the Indian side as they defeated the hosts in a record chase. Now, the decider will be played at MCA stadium in Pune on Sunday.
