BJP explores new president for Punjab Unit ahead of 2024 Lok Sabha Elections

PTC News Desk:  In a strategic move aimed at strengthening its position in Punjab ahead of the crucial 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is actively considering appointing a new president for its Punjab unit. The decision comes amidst growing concerns about the party's performance in the state and the need for effective leadership to ensure success in the upcoming polls.

Several names have emerged as potential contenders for the coveted position. Among them, Harjit Singh Grewal, Surjit Jiyani, and the Rajesh Bagha have gained prominence in the discussion. Harjit Singh Grewal, a seasoned politician, is considered a strong candidate due to his extensive experience and deep understanding of Punjab's political landscape.

Being a Jatt Sikh, Grewal's potential appointment could also help the party in garnering support from the Sikh community.

Another name that has garnered attention is Rajesh Bagha, who belongs to the Dalit community. His potential appointment could contribute to the party's efforts to diversify its leadership and expand its appeal across various sections of society.

While the discussions are ongoing, it is evident that the BJP is carefully considering the factors of age and regional representation in its decision-making process. With Grewal's age being around 66-67 years, he falls within the preferred age bracket, and his strong base among Jat Sikhs from Malwa region further strengthens his candidacy. Jiyani also falls in the same age bracket.

Surjit Jiyani also is a strong contender for the position of President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Punjab, given his impressive background and extensive political experience. With a track record of dedicated service to the party, Jiyani has demonstrated his commitment to the BJP's principles and ideology. His deep understanding of Punjab's political dynamics, combined with his ability to connect with people at the grassroots level, makes him a compelling choice for the role.

Moreover, Jiyani's strong organizational skills and strategic acumen equip him with the necessary tools to effectively lead the party in Punjab, ensuring its growth and success in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

The move to appoint a new president for the Punjab unit comes as Captain Amarinder Singh is trying to push for Sunil Jakhar as BJP's Punjab President.

Notably, BJP leaders, including party president JP Nadda and general secretary BN Santosh Jakhar, are reportedly working supporting Captain.

With the 2024 Lok Sabha elections fast approaching, the BJP's search for a new president for its Punjab unit signifies the party's commitment to consolidating its position in the state. The chosen leader will be entrusted with the crucial task of galvanizing the party's base, expanding its appeal among various communities, and spearheading an effective campaign to secure victory in Punjab.
