What happened between BJD-BJP in 2009

In 2009, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) severed ties with the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) after an enduring 11-year political partnership. The decision came after failed negotiations regarding seat-sharing arrangements, marking a significant shift in Odisha's political landscape.

Disagreements over seat allocations in the run-up to the 2009 elections led to a breakdown in the alliance. Despite attempts at reconciliation, the differences between the two parties proved irreconcilable, prompting the BJD to withdraw from the NDA.

The departure of the BJD from the NDA marked a significant turning point in Odisha's political landscape. It altered the dynamics of alliances both at the state and national levels, reshaping the political equations in the region.
