IndiGo launches direct flight between Adampur, Mumbai; travel to Takht Hazur Sahib now becomes more convenient
PTC Web Desk: In a major boost to Punjab’s air connectivity, IndiGo Airlines has launched a new direct flight service between Adampur (Jalandhar) and Mumbai starting July 2. The service is being hailed as a significant and long-awaited step, especially for Sikh devotees travelling to Maharashtra.
The inaugural flight took off from Mumbai and landed at Adampur Airport this afternoon, marking the official commencement of the new route. The direct connection is expected to greatly benefit travellers from Jalandhar and surrounding areas, particularly pilgrims heading to Takht Sachkhand Sri Hazur Sahib in Nanded.
Rajya Sabha MP Satnam Singh Sandhu has called it a historic move that addresses a long-pending demand of Sikh devotees. He highlighted that reaching Takht Sri Hazur Sahib from Punjab was especially difficult for elderly pilgrims due to the absence of direct air connectivity.
The non-stop flight by IndiGo will take approximately 2 hours and 40 minutes. Departure from Adampur (Jalandhar) is scheduled at 3.50 pm and arrival time in Mumbai is 6.30 pm. Return from Mumbai is at 12.55 pm and arrival at Adampur Airport is 3.15 pm.
