Amritsar encounter: Police arrest two gangsters after cross-firing

Amritsar, December 1: In chaotic chase, Amritsar police on Thursday nabbed 3 gangsters trying to flee the city. While being chased by the police Firing has taken place between police and gangsters in Amritsar, Punjab. After cross firing with the police, 2 accused hid in a house, while 3 managed to escape. Police has succeeded in nabbing two accused Ravi and Rafi by conducting a search operation. A large quantity of weapons have also been recovered from the accused.

The incident took place on 40 feet road in Narayangarh of Chheharta area. The police had received information that some gangsters were coming in a car. After this, the police had set up a naka on the 40 feet road. When the police officers stationed at the naka signaled the car to stop, the gangsters present in it started firing. Seeing the retaliatory action of the police, the accused left the car there and started running away..

On seeing the police, the two gangsters fled and turned towards a dead end. Seeing themselves trapped, both entered a house. While his three accomplices managed to escape from the spot. The arrested gangsters have been identified as Ravi resident of Kapatgarh Amritsar and Rafi resident of Tarn Taran.

Police searched the accused and the car. 5 foreign made pistols have been recovered from the accused. At the same time, more than two dozen bullets have also been recovered. The accused Ravi and Rafi are being interrogated.
