Amritsar Press Club elections: Maninder Singh Monga of PTC News unanimously elected general secretary
Amritsar, September 15: The Amritsar Press Club announced its new office bearers on Friday, and the selection process was marked by unanimous decisions. Rajesh Gill was re-elected as the president, while Maninder Singh Monga, a senior journalist from PTC News, was chosen as the general secretary. Kamal Kishore will take on the role of cashier. The executive team will also include Vipin Rana, Satish Sharma, Surjit Singh Gopipur, and Vishal Sharma among its 15 members.
The newly elected team was greeted with warm receptions, complete with garlands and celebratory events. It is worth noting that a significant development occurred in 2016 when, during the Akali-BJP government's tenure, plans were initiated to establish a sprawling press club in New Amritsar, spanning 3,000 square yards. However, it took two more years for the facility to be handed over to journalists, and numerous legal challenges were overcome to benefit the Press Club. This time, journalists achieved consensus and unanimity in selecting their representatives, with the aim of further enhancing the Press Club's progress.
