NCERT has misrepresented historical details on Anandpur Sahib Resolution in Class 12 book, says SGPC
PTC Web Desk: Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) chief Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami has raised objections over misrepresentation of historical details with regard to the Sikh community in NCERT books.
"The NCERT has incorporated misleading information about the Anandpur Sahib Resolution in Chapter 8 (‘Regional Aspirations’) of Class XII political science book ‘Politics in India Since Independence," said Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami.
Urging the NCERT to remove this content immediately, the SGPC chief said "it was not at all justified to portray the Sikhs as separatists'.

Advocate Dhami said the 1973 resolution was focused on Punjab's rights and strengthening the federal structure.
Notably, in the the same book, references to Mahatma Gandhi's assassination and what he did after the Independence of India were also removed recently in "so-called syllabus rationalisation exercise".
