Two cops assaulted by group of drunk men, critically injured in Chandigarh's sector 16
PTC News Desk: In a shocking incident, two cops on Wednesday were brutally assaulted by group of men outside a liquor store in Chandigarh's sector 16 area. Both the cops were immediately rushed Sector-16 hospital.
Senior police officers reached the spot, soon after receiving the information.
During the attack, Constable Pradeep was hit on the head with a brick, getting critically injured. Constable Ankit was also injured during the altercation with the group of men, who were under influence of alcohol.
According to the information, the cops were on patrolling duty when they reached Sector-16 liquor shop, where group was already present. However, when the constables asked them to leave the area, they got into an argument. Within a short time, the argument turned into a fierce altercation with the drunk men attacked the constables.
As soon as the local people arrived at the spot, the accused fled the scene and the cops were immediately rushed to the hospital in a private vehicle.
The police has launched investigation into the matter and are also scrutinising the CCTV footage to identify the accused and arrest them. Besides, the police officials are also interrogating the localities or nearby people who haad witnessed the scene.
