The meeting will be held in the Delhi office of the Union Water Power Minister at three o'clock in the afternoon under the leadership of Union Minister Gajendra Shekhawat. It is significant that earlier a meeting was held in Chandigarh on October 14 to resolve the water issue on the order of the Supreme Court. The next hearing of this matter in the Supreme Court is to be held on January 19, in which the central government has to submit a four-month progress report.

The 2-hour long meeting between the Chief Ministers of Punjab and Haryana on 14 October 2022 regarding SYL was inconclusive. Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal had asked to fix a time frame for the construction of SYL citing the Supreme Court order. Both the Chief Ministers had told that this meeting was inconclusive.

Reportedly, Irrigation Department Principal Secretary Krishna Kumar was busy preparing for the meeting for the last three days. It is learned that all the points which are to be raised in today's meeting were shared by him with Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann .
