Punjab govt scraps Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal's Department of Administrative Reforms after being non-existent for 20 months
PTC News Desk: The Punjab government has scrapped the Department of Administrative Reforms led by state Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal
Punjab minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal has been relieved of Department of Administrative Reforms which has been scrapped by the Punjab government after the department was non existent for almost 20 months.
In a notification issued today, the Punjab Government acknowledged that the Department of Administrative Reforms, allocated to Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, was “non-existent”. As a result Dhaliwal will now hold only Department of NRI Affairs.
The gazette notification states that the “Punjab Governor, on the advice of the Chief Minister, is pleased to make an amendment to the earlier notification regarding the portfolios of ministers with effect from February 7, 2025”.
In the last cabinet reshuffle in 2023, Dhaliwal was allocated the Administrative Reforms Department while he retained NRI Affairs ministry.
Meanwhile BJP took a dig over the Punjab's AAP government and dubbed the ove as Kejriwal model in an irony.
"Punjab had a Minister for Administrative Reforms but no Ministry of Administrative Reforms. AAP government headed by CM Bhagwant Mann was blissfully unaware of this till it erased the tag of Minister for Administrative Reforms. This is Kejriwal Model," Kanchan Gupta, a senior advisor to the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcast said.
