Punjab Police to revive hi-tech checkpoints to combat 'anti-social elements'

Phagwara, November 22: Reiterating Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann's firm commitment to making Punjab a crime-free state, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Law and Order Arpit Shukla announced on Tuesday that all high-tech checkpoints in the state will be revived.

He also directed the CPs/SSPs to increase police outposts in their respective jurisdictions, particularly at night, and to conduct maximum vehicle checks at each naka, which would help reduce criminal activity.

He also recommended that all nakas be coordinated so that they are activated immediately upon receiving information about any incident.

ADGP Arpit Shukla presided over a high-level meeting in Phagwara to review the situation of law and order in the Jalandhar range.

Gursharan Sandhu, IGP of Jalandhar Range, and Navneet Bains, SSP of Kapurthala, were also present in the meeting.

They directed that all district police chiefs keep a close eye on the anti-social 'Ansaras' and increase their vigilance.

The ADGP stated that the police work around the clock to maintain law and order in the state. Aside from that, a special campaign has been launched in the state to keep an eye on the activities of 'gangsters and drug peddlers,' with significant success being achieved.
