Punjab by-elections 2019: SAD worker injured in a firing at Dakha constituency

Punjab by-elections 2019: A Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) worker was injured in a firing incident at Dakha constituency, on Monday. The SAD worker has been rushed to the DMC hospital in Ludhiana. The voting for Dakha and three other constituencies concluded this evening. The voter turnout till 5 pm was recorded at 64.35% in Dakha constituency.

The by-elections for four constituencies in Punjab – Phagwara, Mukerian, Dakha, and Jalalabad – has concluded and now the results will be declared on October 24.

In the wake of violent incidents in Dakha constituency on Sunday, the Election Commission of India, directed DIG, Ludhiana Range Ranbir Singh Khatra to take charge of security arrangements in place of SSP (Rural) Ludhiana.
