Mohali, February 8: Ahead of the Punjab Assembly elections 2022, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Tuesday filed a complaint with the Election Commission against AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal for allegedly violating the model code of conduct and making "false, frivolous and malicious allegations without an iota of truth against the SAD". In SAD's complaint  the Election Commission reads," AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal is violating the model code of conduct, which expects minimum standard of good behaviour and conduct, and making false, frivolous and malicious allegations against the SAD. Immoral tactics by the AAP leader is vitiating the peaceful atmosphere of free and fair election process. Such an irresponsible act of a sitting Chief Minister is directly in contravention of the guidelines of the Election Commission of India is unacceptable." Punjab elections 2022: SAD moves EC against Kejriwal, accuses him of violating poll code The SAD alleged that Arvind Kejriwal released a video message making an appeal to the supporters of the Shiromani Akali Dal to vote for the AAP on the basis of "unsubstantiated, false and frivolous" claims misleading the people of Punjab. "The SAD strictly objects to such malicious and immoral tactics which are against the spirit of the model code of conduct. If such immoral tactics are not strictly dealt with at the earliest, this would vitiate the peace and communal harmony in the state of Punjab," said the complaint. The SAD claimed that earlier also on many occasions, such "immoral and malicious propaganda had been spread by Arvind Kejriwal for which he had to tender unconditional apologies. It demanded that such a video should be immediately banned and removed from all electronic and social media platforms, including Facebook and Twitter.
