Punjab government dissolves State Planning Board; Rajinder Kaur Bhattal ousted
Chandigarh, April 26: The Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday dissolved the State Planning Board and the vice chairman of the board, Rajinder Kaur Bhattal has been dismissed.
Bhattal will now have to vacate the government residence and give up government security. The veteran Congress leader and former CM Rajinder Kaur Bhattal was appointed as the vice chairman of the state planning board by former Punjab CM Capt Amarinder Singh.
According to the sources, the Punjab State Planning Board will be replaced by Economic Policy and Planning Board, which will be Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann.
The process to nominate the members of the new board has been started. The Mann government will appoint two vice-chairpersons and mostly financial experts will be involved, as per the reports.

In addition, the state government has decided to dissolve the Punjab Traders Board. The state government has made a recommendation to the governor in this regard.
According to sources, the said board will be dissolved within the next day or two. Apart from that, action has been initiated to dissolve another board created by the Charanjit Singh Channi government. There were around five boards, the chairmen of which were accorded the status of ministers of state.
According to government sources, efforts are being made to pass over responsibility for the position of chairman of the board corporation to MLAs.
