Punjab reports highest-ever single-day spike in coronavirus cases

The total number of coronavirus cases in Punjab has increased to 27,936 after 1035 new cases of COVID-19 were reported from the state, as of Thursday evening. According to the media bulletin issued on Thursday evening, the death toll in the state has increased to 706 after 36 new deaths were reported from the state due to the contagion disease. A total of 627 COVID patients were declared cured and discharged from the state. Out of which, Ludhiana reported 160 recoveries while Amritsar reported 72, Sangrur 23, Hoshiarpur 15, Gurdaspur 23, Ferozepur 70, Pathankot 11, Tarn Taran 55, FG Sahib 15, Moga 83, SBS Nagar 2, Fazilka 5, Kapurthala 26, Ropar 36, Muktsar 14, Barnala 4 and Mansa 13. Among the new deaths, Amritsar recorded 2, Gurdaspur 1, Hoshiarpur 1, Jalandhar 5, Kapurthala 3, Ludhiana 13, SAS Nagar 3, Patiala 2, Ropar 1, Sangrur 3 and Tarn Taran 2. Of new cases, Ludhiana reported 222 new cases while Jalandhar reported 176, Amritsar 41, Patiala 140, Sangrur 24, Mohali 88, Hoshiarpur 2, Gurdaspur 2, Ferozepur 66, Pathankot 1, Tarn Taran 7, Bathinda 79, Fatehgarh Sahib 43, Moga 21, SBS Nagar 17, Faridkot 32, Fazilka 5, Kapurthala 19, Ropar 10, Muktsar 15, Barnala 13 and Mansa 12. Likewise, 3 death cases have been excluded as they were tested negative. -PTC News
